Poets of Lorain County was founded in late 2010 by Elyria poet John Burroughs (a.k.a. Jesus Crisis) to increase awareness of poets and poetry in, from and all about Lorain County, Ohio.  The society began humbly as a Facebook page, and under its auspices John quickly organized two local poetry reading series: PoetryElyria (every Sunday afternoon from 1 to 3 p.m. at Jim’s Coffeehouse and Diner, 2 Kerstetter Way in Elyria) and beginning in 2011, Lorain County Poets Present (the 3rd Thursday of each month from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Avon Lake Public Library, 32649 Electric Blvd. in Avon Lake).  With fellow Lorain County poet Dianne Borsenik, John also co-hosts the monthly Lix and Kix Poetry Extravaganza at Bela Dubby in Lakewood.

Beginning November 7th 2010, John Burroughs began emceeing PoetryElyria, a new Sunday afternoon wordfest at Jim’s Coffeehouse and Diner, doors away from the scenic East Falls Riverwalk in Elyria.  Each session began at 1 p.m. with an open mic and concluded with featured readings/performances from some of the brightest poetic talents in Ohio and beyond.  Follow us at twitter.com/elyriapoetrySee also facebook.com/loraincountypoets.
